Todd C. Cooper, DDS

It’s extremely rewarding to have patients walk out of our office with a solution to their oral health problems.

Meet Dr. Cooper

Dr. Todd Cooper is originally from Canada, although he lived in several different countries growing up. When he was five years old, his family moved to Southern Asia and lived in Pakistan for a few years. They moved to India for 10 years, and then Singapore for four years, where Dr. Cooper attended an American high school. In 1990, Dr. Cooper returned to the United States so he could attend college in California.

Dr. Cooper went into oral surgery because he wanted to be involved in corrective jaw surgery, facial reconstruction, and the treatment of patients with traumatic injuries. He was inspired by the idea that he could help those in dire situations completely restore their function, appearance, and confidence. Dr. Cooper aims his focus on treating patients effectively and efficiently with less emphasis on the latest and greatest and more emphasis on compassion and individualized care. He believes in treating each patient like they are family and recommending the treatment he would suggest for any member of his own family.

Education & residency

Dr. Cooper received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Pacific Union College in Angwin, California, in 1994. Following the completion of his undergraduate degree, Dr. Cooper decided he wanted to continue his education by attending dental school. In 1999, he graduated from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS).

Following his dreams of becoming an oral surgeon, Dr. Cooper stayed at Loma Linda University to complete a four-year oral and maxillofacial residency. During his residency, Dr. Cooper gained extensive knowledge and skills of how to treat a full scope of oral and facial afflictions. He trained alongside licensed professionals, even learning how to safely administer anesthesia to patients in an office and hospital setting.

While he mainly practices at Columbia Basin Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, Dr. Cooper continues offering treatment in local hospitals as well. He is on staff at all hospitals in the Tri-Cities area, including Kadlec Regional Medical Center, Lourdes Medical Center, and Trios Southridge Hospital.

Certifications

In 2005, Dr. Cooper became board certified by both the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS) and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. To gain his board certification from the ABOMS, Dr. Cooper was required to complete an exam testing his knowledge of the comprehensive biological practices and clinical practices of the oral and maxillofacial surgery specialty. With his board certification and certification in anesthesia, patients can feel confident that Dr. Cooper is the most qualified professional to treat any oral or facial condition.

Dr. Cooper has successfully completed the process to allow Stemodontics services to be provided at his practice. With Stemodontics, patients can store stem cells so they can later be used to treat future illnesses or diseases.

Interests and hobbies

Dr. Cooper’s favorite hobby is flying; he received his pilot’s license while in college, and now he appreciates every opportunity he gets to travel. He flies often, and with family all over the Northwest, he loves flying his wife and two children to visit.

Dr. Cooper also enjoys various outdoor activities with his children, including water skiing and snow skiing. They like to stay active and enjoy each other’s company as often as they can. Dr. Cooper also works for the Department of Health for Washington State and is in the eighth year of an eight-year term on the Dental Board.
