Dr. Todd Cooper is originally from Canada, although he lived in several different countries growing up. When he was five years old, his family moved to Southern Asia and lived in Pakistan for a few years. They moved to India for 10 years, and then Singapore for four, where Dr. Cooper attended an American high school. In 1990, Dr. Cooper returned to the United States so he could attend college in California.
Dr. Cooper went into oral surgery because he wanted to be involved in corrective jaw surgery, facial reconstruction, and the treatment of patients with traumatic injuries. He was inspired by the idea that he could help those in dire situations completely restore their function, appearance, and confidence.
Dr. Cooper focuses on treating patients effectively and efficiently with emphasis on compassion and individualized care. He believes in treating each patient like they are family and recommending the treatment he would suggest for any member of his own family.
Dr. Cooper received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Pacific Union College in Angwin, California, in 1994. After completing his undergraduate degree, Dr. Cooper decided to continue his education by attending dental school. In 1999, he graduated from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS).
Following his dreams of being an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Cooper completed a four-year oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center. During his residency Dr. Cooper gained extensive knowledge and skills of how to treat a full scope of oral and facial afflictions in addition to extensive training in sedation and general anesthesia.
In 2005, Dr. Cooper became board certified by both the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS) and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. To gain his board certification from the ABOMS, Dr. Cooper was required to complete an exam testing his knowledge of the comprehensive biological practices and clinical practices of the oral and maxillofacial surgery specialty.
With his board certification and certification in anesthesia, patients can feel confident that Dr. Cooper is the most qualified professional to treat any oral or facial condition.
Dr. Cooper’s favorite hobby is flying; he received his pilot’s license while in college, and now he appreciates every opportunity he gets to travel. He flies often, and with family all over the Northwest, he loves flying with his wife and two children.
Dr. Cooper also enjoys various outdoor activities with his children, including water skiing and snow skiing. They like to stay active and enjoy each other’s company as often as they can.
